Louisiana-born violinist/composer Michael Galasso. He began his career in the 1970s producing music for theatrical productions, subsequently working on a wide range of projects including film scores, songwriting, art performances. This is a unique solo violin work released by ECM. Inheriting the influences of Cage and Reich, total 9 tracks expand the possibilities of the violin, including minimal piece “Scene VI” with ethereal sound and “Scene IX” with layered, drone-like soundscapes inducing a trance-like state. The home-recorded feel is also an appealing feature.
ルイジアナ州出身のヴァイオリニスト/コンポーザーMichael Galasso。70年代に演劇作品の音楽制作からキャリアをスタートしその後は映画作品、楽曲提供、アート・パフォーマンスまで幅広い作品に携わってきた人物。本作は異色とも言えるECMからリリースされたソロ・ヴァイオリン作品。ケージやライヒの意匠を受け継ぎ、幽玄なサウンドを発するミニマルミュージック”Scene VI”や幾重にもレイヤーされドローンのように恍惚状態を誘い出す”Scene IX”などヴァイオリンの可能性を拡張した全9曲を収録。ホームレコーディングのような雰囲気も魅力。ECMの審美眼にも驚かされます。
