After disbanding his new wave band, composer Shigeru Umebayashi paved the way for film music and has worked on many works in Asian countries, Europe, and America. This is his solo debut work, released in 1986 while working on film music and other projects. The entire album features a modern synth-pop sound that reflects the oriental and ambience approach shown in the soundtrack. Among them, we recommend "Bazaar", which has a beat similar to a tango rhythm, "I Still Fall For You", a mid-synth wave with a Balearic atmosphere, and "Mr. Bones", a stateless reggae wave. A sense of genius that combines a variety of rhythms and comfort. Amazing.
ニューウェーブバンドを解散した後は、映画音楽の道を切り開きアジア各国や欧米でも数多くの作品を手掛ける作曲家 梅林茂。本作は映画音楽等を手掛けながら86年にリリースされたソロデヴュー作品。サントラでも見せるオリエンタルやアンビエンスなアプローチを反映させたようなモダンなシンセ・ポップ・サウンドを全編に収録。中でもタンゴのリズムのようなビート感覚を刻む”Bazaar”、バレアリック雰囲気のミッド・シンセ・ウェーヴ”I Still Fall For You”、無国籍レゲエ・ウェーヴ”Mr. Bones”あたりオススメ。多彩なリズムと心地よさが同居した天才的感覚。素晴らしき名作です。
