John Fekner is a conceptual artist based "with" New York who has been active since the 1960s, tackling issues such as perception and transformation, urban decay, greed, chemical pollution, mass media, Native Americans. His extensive body of work spans painting, paper reliefs, video, music recordings, performance pieces, sculpture, and photography, but this cassette book was released in Japan by City Squad, a musical project made up of musicians and non-musicians. It features a different mix of tracks (One track A4 is not included on the album) from only album "Idioblast" released on private label, which blends synthwave, industrial, experimental, hip-hop, and comes with 62-page mini-book featuring artwork. In addition to its artistic appeal, City Squad has also garnered musical acclaim, with a City Squad compilation record released last year. This release is from B-Sellers, a separate company (label) established by Kuki, the Adult Video manufacturer behind the catalogs "GGPG 1 - Alphabet" and "Tokyo 1 Dozen". We guess it had quite a cult following even back then. Extremely rare piece. Comes with obi.
知覚と変容の概念、都市の荒廃、貪欲、化学汚染、マスメディア、ネイティブアメリカン・インディアンといった問題に切り込み60年代より活動を続けてきたニューヨークと共に活動するコンセプチュアルアーティストJohn Fekner。絵画、ペーパーレリーフ、ビデオ、音楽録音、パフォーマンス作品、彫刻、写真に至るまで多くの作品を発表していますが、本作は非ミュージシャンとミュージシャンで結成された音楽プロジェクトCity Squadによる日本でリリースされたカセットブック。自主レーベルから発表したシンセウェイヴ、インダストリアル、エクスペリメンタル、ヒップホップを融合させた唯一のアルバム”Idioblast”の楽曲を違ったミックスで収録(A4の一曲はアルバムには未収録)、そこに62ページに渡るアートワークを掲載したミニ本が収納されています。アートとしての魅価値も高いですが、昨年にはCity Squadの編集レコードがリリースされるなど音楽面でも評価されています。”GGPG 1 - Alphabet”や”東京1ダース”をカタログしているAVメーカーKukiが立ち上げた別会社(レーベル)B-Sellersからのリリース。当時でもかなりカルトな存在だったように思います。超稀少。帯も付いてます。
