This field recording work is titled with Monks at Eiheiji Temple in Yoshida-gun, Fukui Prefecture, which is said to have been born in 1200. To be precise, it includes recordings made in Kyoto and Kobe as well as Fukui. Nature sounds, the impassioned sutras chanted by the monks that even sound psychedelic, the droning soundscapes of the bells, and the moments of silence. Total fantastic recording that realistically captures the daily life of monks. The jacket by Tadanori Yokoo further enhances the value of this work.
1200年に生まれたと言われる福井県吉田郡にある永平寺の僧侶とタイトルがつけられたフィールドレコーディング作品。正確には福井の他、京都、神戸での録音も含まれています。自然音、サイケデリックにさえ聞こえてくる僧侶たちの唱える迫真のお経、ドローンのように響いてくる鐘の音像、静寂の時間。僧侶たちの日常を臨場的に切り取った素晴らしい録音物。横尾忠則手掛けたジャケットも更にこの作品の価値を高めています。
