For many years, archaeologists and students have been excavating the remains of the Yayoi style pottery period on the Ayaragi plateau, located north of Shimonoseki in Yamaguchi Prefecture in 1966. The fact that two earthen flutes were discovered in that place led to the restoration of the earthen flute by the print artist Toshiyuki Matsuoka. When Masuda Takemune learned of Hiroshi Tamura's ability to bring the sound of the flute back to life in the modern age, he introduced it on the radio, and began recording it in 1978. Each side contains one long piece of music using a variety of instruments in addition to the earthen flute. The simple yet purifying tone is warm from beginning to end as if it is a stabilizer.
