"Astro Boy" is a science fiction manga work by Osamu Tezuka that is still loved around the world today. This work was produced in 1975 by sound designer Matsuo Ohno, who created the sound effects onomatopoeia such as footsteps and flying sounds when it was broadcast on TV from 1963 to 1966, as a medium rather than just a supporting role. Until then, there had been no animated films produced with a sound composition, and the impression left by Ohno's "sound" that compensated for the awkward motion images of the time seems to have remained vivid in people's memories. A historical work of Japanese electronic music that was improvised with images. You can listen to it as a sound effect piece, imagine the movements along with the narration, or let your imagination run wild wondering what kind of instruments are producing such sounds.
On December 19, 2022, he ended his life-long career as an artist. We sincerely pray for him.
現在も世界で愛される手塚治虫原作のSF作品「鉄腕アトム」。本作は63年から66年にかけてTV放映された際に音響デザイナー大野松雄が手掛けた足音や空を飛ぶ音に代表される効果擬音を単なる脇役ではなく一つの媒体として捉えレコード化した75年作。それまでアニメにおいて音響構成で制作された作品はなかったようで、まだまだ動きなどがぎこちない当時の映像を補うような大野の「音」が残した印象は人々の記憶に鮮明に残されているようです。イメージをしながら即興で作られたという日本電子音楽の歴史的作品。サウンド・エフェクト作品として聞くのもよし、ナレーションと共に動きを想像しながら聞くのもよし、どんな楽器からこんな音が出ているのかと妄想を膨らませるのもよし。
2022年12月19日に生涯現役を全うしたアーティスト人生に幕を閉じたと知りました。謹んでお祈り申し上げます。
