1965 release by New York-born drummer Ron Jefferson was recorded during his stay in Paris. It features “Africa The Beautiful,” the defining track born from concert opportunities in his native Senegal, following the trio's well-received local performances with Roland Haynes and Buz Saviano, his main musical partners. This 12 minute long master piece blends graceful performance and spirituality, accented by his own flute and Senegalese percussion, and is considered the origin of Afro Jazz. Also included is "The Speaker" featuring soaring scat-singing, "Fu Yu" with its comfortable, danceable rhythmic performance, and 24 minute theme song "Every Little Bit Helps" showcasing his various facets. However, sales at the time apparently flopped completely, and he seems to have returned to New York afterward. Consequently, the original release is now difficult to find. The pressing isn't great, causing some noise in quiet parts, but it's still in fairly good condition. Check long audio clips.
