José De Jesús Muñoz López, known as Tilico, is a Mexican drummer who served as a producer/arranger on numerous projects beyond his own work starting in the 1960s. This piece appears to be a release by Hot Pepper, a one-off disco project formed by Mexican musicians including Tilico, who has participated in recordings by Herb Alpert, known for his work related to Mexico. All 4 tracks on the album feel less like traditional Latin music and more like a modern disco sound driven by synthesizers. First up is “Cancion Ritual (Ritual Song)” which delivers a dope and mysterious atmosphere, unsettling beat, groove with just the right amount of tension, shimmering eerie synths. Still vividly remember the impact of the album cover and the sound when we first heard it. Every track is a winner, including "Deja Que El Mundo Sea Feliz Otra Vez" which features synths and captures a laid-back West Coast vibe and the trippy Miami disco style "No Me Presiones". Finally restock this amazing one for the first time since sour buying trip to Mexico.
60年代より自身のプロジェクト以外にも多くの作品でプロデューサー/アレンジャーを務めたメキシコ人ドラマーTilicoことJosé De Jesús Muñoz López。本作はどうやらメキシコに関連した作品を残しているHerb Alpertの録音に参加したTilico含むメキシカン・ミュージシャン達によって結成されたワンオフ・ディスコ・プロジェクトHot Pepperによる一枚のいうです。ラテンというよりシンセをフィーチャーしたモダンなディスコを制作したような意図が見て取れる全4曲。まずミステリアスな雰囲気、ドープさを際立たせる不穏で沈みこむビート、適度な粘着グルーヴ、煌めく怪しげなシンセといった要素を満たす”Cancion Ritual (Ritual Song)”がなんと言ってもキラー。最初聴いた時とジャケのインパクトは衝撃は今でも忘れられません。他にもシンセをフィーチャーしレイドバックする西海岸の空気感をパッキングしたような”Deja Que El Mundo Sea Feliz Otra Vez”、トリッピーなマイアミ・ディスコ風”No Me Presiones”など全曲推せます。久々に入荷できました。シュリンク付きのオリジナル。
