Gato Barbieri, a leading international jazz musician from Argentina. He moved to Europe in 1962 and formed a group with Don Cherry. From the late 1960s onwards, he released works reflecting his roots, and this album, released in 1971 by Flying Dutchman, coincides with that period. With two Latin percussionists, Naná Vasconcelos and Gene Golden, he expands his musical range by performing based on folklore and samba. The entire album is excellent, but highlights include "Bahia" which features Nana's berimbau and was also played by Coltrane, "El Dia Que Me Quieras" which truly embodies the fusion of black jazz and folk (traditional) music; and "El Arriero" a folklore classic known for Yupanqui. This is a rare shrink-wrapped CAP obi version.
