4-D is an electric wave unit led by Kenji Konishi (ex Kiga Domei, DADA) that has been active primarily in the Kansai region while undergoing various lineup changes. This 1985 piece came out as a proper album on Telegraph Records following a series of five distributed flexi-discs. It comprises 7 tracks performed by the four-member "Mode 1" lineup: Shinobu Narita, Tadahiko Yokokawa, and Kazuya Nakagaki, including "Piper In The Woods" which blends a hard, metallic beat with an aesthetic of dark romanticism, the electro-breakbeat highlight "Tabi No Hito", and electronic ambient piece "Buruton No Te". Poweful playing at 45 RPM with meticulously designed artwork featuring a plastic sleeve.
小西健司(ex 飢餓同盟, DADA)が形態を変えながら関西を中心に活動を行ってきたエレクトリック・ウェーヴ・ユニット4-D。本作は5枚のソノシートを配布した後にTelegraphレコードから正式なアルバムとしてリリースされた85年の作品。成田忍、横川理彦、中垣和也の4人によるMode1による全7曲の構成。硬質でメタリックなビートに耽美的な世界観を映し出した”Piper In The Woods”、ハイライトのエレクトロ・ブレイクビーツ”旅の人”、電子アンビエント”ブルトンの手”はじめ重厚でセンスあるサウンドメイクが際立っています。45回転で音質もパワフル。プラスチック・スリーブを使ったこだわりのアートワークも必見。
