Scottish artist Robert Rental, also big known for his collaborations with Thomas Leer. A pivotal figure in the early British DIY/post-punk scene, this is his first single released in 1978, brimming with DIY spirit. Produced using low-budget electronics like a Roland drum machine, Stylophone, Electroharmonix DrQ, and a TEAC A3440 4-track recorder, it features “Paralysis” a blend of primitive programming, murmuring vocals, and hypnotic lo-fi texture, alongside the more pop oriented yet experimental “A.C.C.” which fragments and distorts into a drone like intensity. Both tracks are irresistible. This rare first original release features a handmade jacket, reportedly copied by Robert's partner during off-hours at the Virgin Records office. The disc is pristine. The following year, he also released an extremely rare cassette album.
Thomas Leerとの共作でも知られるスコティッシュ・アーティストRobert Rental。初期英DIY/ポストパンク・シーンの要としても名前が挙がる人物で、本作は78年に自主レーベルよりリリースしたDIY精神みなぎるファーストシングル。Rolandのドラムマシーン, Stylophone, Electroharmonix DrQ, TEAC A3440 4-track レコーダーの低予算の電子機器を用い、原始的な打ち込みにつぶやくようなボーカル、催眠的ロウファイ加減がひとつになった”Paralysis”とよりポップながら実験的で断片化されドローンを帯びるように歪みが増していく”A.C.C.”を収録。どちらもたまりません。ロバートのパートナーがヴァージン・レコードのオフィスで勤務時間外にこっそりコピーしたというハンドメイドジャケ仕様の稀少なファーストオリジナル。盤面ピカピカです。翌年には非常にレアなカセットアルバムも残しています。
