Laughing Hands, a group active in the experimental scene of Melbourne, Australia, left four works in a short period of the early 80's with a sound centered on improvisation using tape, synthesizer, guitar, hand percussion, more. This is the cassette-only piece of the three works released in 1981 that has not been released on record. Both were produced and mixed by David Chesworth. It is divided into subsections titled "Vibrate", "Scatter", "Picture" and "Splinter". Side A features 4 minimal tracks that are a crystallization of ethnic music, post-punk and industrial, as well as the 20-minute-plus "Five Songs From The Razor", which embodies Paul Schütze's inclinations, like listening to a hypnotic ritual. Side B features total 7 tracks ranging from post-industrial to minimal synth that express their aesthetic. The last track "Swimming Statues" is especially stands out. Our favorite their release. First edition with a special box and a Polaroid photo attached, with an insert. Extremely rare.
テープ、シンセサイザー、ギター、ハンドパーカッション等を用いた即興演奏を軸にしたサウンドで80年代初頭の短い期間に4つの作品を残したオーストラリア・メルボルンの実験シーンで活動したグループLaughing Hands。本作は81年にリリースされた三作品で唯一レコード化されていないカセットオンリー作品。プロデュース/ミックスは共にDavid Chesworthが手掛けています。「Vibrate」「Scatter」「Picture」「Splinter」と題されたサブセクションに分かれた構成となっていて、A面では民族音楽、ポストパンク、インダストリアルが結晶したようなミニマルトラック4曲に加え、どこかの催眠的な儀式を聞いてるようなPaul Schützeの志向を体現したような20分超え”Five Songs From The Razor”。B面では彼らの美学を現したようなポストインダストリアル～ミニマルシンセまで全7曲を収録。特にラストの”Swimming Statues”がヤバい。当店的に最高傑作に推したい作品。特製ボックスにポラロイド写真が貼られたファーストエディション、インサート付属。超貴重。
