A percussionist/composer Kjell Samkopf who began his career as an orchestra player, serving as assistant conductor of the orchestra and percussionist at the Opera House, before moving into the field of contemporary music and continuing to work today. This is his first solo album, released in 1982. Side A develops from the first half, where the echo-processed percussion reverberates against the background of the field sounds of frogs croaking, to dreamy minimal second half of electronic sounds and percussion. The B-side features 3 tracks that are the result of years of improvisation, including minimal contemporary “Underveis” with lively vibraphone sound. The recording scenery inside of gatefold cover is also very interesting.
オーケストラ奏者としてキャリアをスタートし楽団の副楽長、オペラ座の打楽器奏者等を兼任しながら現代音楽のフィールドへ進み現在も活動を続ける打楽器奏者/作曲家Kjell Samkopf。本作はソロファーストアルバムとして発表した82年作。A面では前衛要素が色濃く反映された打楽器と電子音による20分を超える実験模様。カエルの鳴き声を交えたパートからムーグを交えた後半部へと続く素晴らしい演奏。B面ではヴィブラフォンの瑞々しい響きによるミニマル・コンテンポラリー””Underveis”含む長年の即興の成果に取り組んだ計3曲を収録。見開きに載った録音風景の図も興味深いです。現在貴重となっています。
