The second album by Guerilla Welfare, the Canadian experimental duo of Brian Schultze and Curtis Ruptash, was released in 1988, following their masterful first album. The ethno-sound that sublimates the fourth-world sound, post-punk, funk, etc. seems to have been further perfected, particularly recommend barrage of beats, vocals, accentuated by sound of the Chapman Stick string instrument ”Why'd They Make The Atom Bomb So Damn Hot?”, obscure rhythm and mysterious atmosphere are combined in "Self Denial", tribal wave "Melting Pot" with marimba, ethno-new age style "So Today". Beat tunes such as B3/A1/A5 are also not so straightforward. Total great contents.
Brian SchultzeとCurtis Ruptashによるカナダ人エクスペリメンタル・デュオGuerilla Welfareによる傑作ファーストアルバムに次いでリリースされた88年のセカンドアルバム。第四世界的サウンド、ポストパンク、ファンクなどを昇華したそのエスノサウンドは更に完成された印象で、当店的には連打されるビート、ヴォーカル、弦楽器Chapman Stickの音色がアクセントになった”Why'd They Make The Atom Bomb So Damn Hot?”、オブスキュアなリズムワーク、ミステリアスな雰囲気が一体となった”Self Denial”、マリンバを使ったトライバル・ウェーヴ”Melting Pot”、エスノ・ニューエイジ的”So Today”などが一押し。B3/A1/A5などのビートを持った曲も一筋縄ではいかない感じ。全編素晴らしいです。
