The ritual trance music Joujouka has been passed down through the ages for more than a thousand years by Sufi musicians called The Master Musicians of Joujouka in a small village in Al Surif Mountain located in the southern Rif Mountains of northern Morocco. This work is an exciting and unique collaboration between Bachir Attar, a master Joujouka musician with a career spanning more than 50 years, and Elliott Sharp, who has been active since the 1970s and was a central figure in the New York experimental music scene at the time. A crossover sound experience that blends the West and the East, performed by double reed instrument Rhaita, the three-string bass repellent Guimbri, flute, haunting vocals on the Bachir Attar side and set centered around drum machine on the Elliott Sharp side. Just fantastic. Recommended to compare with "Asilah 80", a collaboration between Peter Lemer and Gunawa music. Original.
