The 1985 US only release of the first solo album by bassist/composer Alex Malheiros, an original member of Azymuth who has also contributed significantly to a vast number of works as a session musician. Recorded in the US and Brazil, the album features top musicians such as Ivan Conti, Chacal, Marcos Resende, Nivaldo Ornelas, more. While it includes tracks that showcase the signature funky style heard on “A3” Papaia, it’s striking how the album is dominated by solo-oriented songs that prioritize atmosphere. Total 8 tracks, including the sweet swaying lounge-type fusion “Traveling Through Your Body” and mystic polyrhythmic “Atlantic Forest” which evokes images of a seaside coast. A masterpiece that offers a slightly different perspective from Azimuth.
アジムスのオリジナルメンバーでありながらセッションミュージシャンとしても膨大な作品に参加し多くの貢献を果たしてきたベーシスト/コンポーザーAlex Malheirosによる85年のUSオンリーリリースのソロ・ファースト・アルバム。アメリカとブラジルで録音が行われIvan Conti, Chacal, Marcos Resende, Nivaldo Ornelasなどトップミュージシャンがバックを務めています。A3”Papaia”に見る持ち前のファンキー路線も収録していますが全体的にムードを重んじたようなソロならではの楽曲が占めているのが印象的。スウィートに揺れるラウンジーなフュージョン・トラック”Traveling Through Your Body”や海辺の海岸を想わせる神秘的なポリリズム”Atlantic Forest”など全8曲を収録。アジムスとは少し違った側面で聴ける名作。
