Jazz guitarist Wilbert Longmire is widely known for his works on Bob James's label in the late '70s. This is a self-released album from earlier in 1975. Above all, the Carpenters' melancholic and mellow cover of “I Won't Last a Day Without You” is exquisite. Other tracks include "The Way We Were" the title track from the film and "Until You Come Back to Me," a love song written by Stevie Wonderla in his youth. It consists of 6 wonderful, mellow, and romantic tracks. Backing musicians include Bill Mason and Billy Kaye. The cover art is also lovely.
70年後半のBob Jamesのレーベルからリリースした作品で広く知られるジャズギタリストWilbert Longmire。本作はそれ以前の初期75年に残していた自主制作盤。なんと言ってもカーペンターズの哀愁メロウカバー”I Won't Last Day Without You”が絶品。その他、映画「追憶」のタイトル曲”The Way We Were”、スティービーワンダーラが若くして書き上げたラブソング”Until You Come Back To Me”など全編メロウ～ロマンシズム溢れる素晴らしい内容。Bill MasonやBilly Kayeがバックを固めています。ジャケも最高。
