Ephat Mujuru is one of the finest mbira player of the 20th century, and plays all five types of mbira in Zimbabwe. He was taught by his grandfather, a medium, when he was a child, and at the age of 10 he was already performing his first possession rituals. He have continued to perform with groups even during the turbulent War of Independence (Rhodesian conflict) while studying under Simon Mashoko, a great figure in the history of mbira. This piece was released in 1983 by the only label in the country at the time, when the nation of Zimbabwe was born after the war, and is one of his representative works and it's an acoustic work before the advancement of electric sound. The simple yet delicate and warm melody and chant will make your heart flutter. Just brilliant. An extremely beautiful original copy with almost no noise.
ジンバブエの5種あるムビラ全てを演奏する20世紀最高のムビラ奏者とも言われるEphat Mujuru。幼い頃に霊媒師の祖父から指導を受け10歳で既に最初の憑依儀式を行っていたと言います、戦後のムビラ史に活躍した偉人Simon Mashokoらに師事しながら激動の独立戦争(ローデシア紛争)の時期にもグループを結成しながら活動を続けていたようです。本作は戦争後ジンバブエという国家が誕生し当時の国内唯一のレーベルから83年にリリースされたエレクトリック化前のアコースティック作品にして彼の代表作のひとつ。マランカのひょうたんと種が入ったホーショと同じ親指ピアノながらエコーのような役割をするクシャウラを従えたムビラの演奏が全編を彩る作品で、素朴ながら繊細で温かみのある旋律とチャントが胸を躍らせます。最高の一言。ノイズもほとんど感じない程の超美品オリジナル。
