Han Dae Soo is an unconventional Korean composer who has led a remarkable life from a young age, including a long stay in America. While he released psychedelic and rock taste works in the 70s, this 1989 collaboration with guitarist Jack Lee showcases a more evolved sound while still retaining traces of that lineage. Side A features opening track "기억상실" from ambient-tinged interspersed with wired ensemble, followed by the abstract fusion type(!?) ”지하철” incorporating percussion, drums, and various other instruments. Side B also includes 4 tracks, including the bizarre eclectic ensemble "해가 서쪽에 뜬다” where his distinctive husky vocals, as well as ambient and space rock-influenced pieces. No matter which part you listen to, this is an incredibly unique and unparalleled record. The album cover is pretty wild too.

幼い頃より数奇な境遇を歩みアメリカでの生活も長く送った異色の韓国人作曲家Han Dae-soo。70年代にはサイケやロック寄りの作品をリリースしてますがこの89年リリースのギタリストJack Leeとの共作ではその系譜を感じさせるものの深化を遂げたサウンドを披露。ドリーミーなアンビエント・タッチの序盤から変則アンサンブルを交えた冒頭”기억상실”からパーカッション、ドラムはじめ様々な楽器を交えたアブストラクト・フュージョン的”지하철”のA面。B面でも自身のダミ声ヴォーカルもいい味出してる奇妙なごった煮アンサンブル”해가 서쪽에 뜬다”やアンビエント、スペースロックを交えた全4曲を収録。どこ切り取ってもだいぶヤバい無双系レコード。ジャケもやっぱりなかなかイってます。
