Based in Maryland USA, Sozra aka John Sosnowsky is a sound artist who has been creating works related to art and visuals since the 1990s. This is private cassette release in 1989 that seems to be one of his early works. A sound "bathing" space that swallows musical elements such as the veins of minimalism, jazz, and environmental music inspired by the journey and natural climate, all performed by himself. A total of 14 tracks, each of which consists of 2 to 3 minutes of labyrinth-like reminiscent of Akio Niitsu. It's surprised that such an unknown artist who seems to be just a part of the world of independent production in the U.S. is still sleeping.
アメリカ・メリーゴーランド州を拠点に90年以降にもアートやヴィジュアルに関連した作品を残しているサウンドアーティストSozraことJohn Sosnowsky。初期作品のひとつと思われる89年の自主カセット作品。全て自身の演奏による旅や自然の風土にインスパイされた環境音楽、ミニマリズム、ジャズの脈地を見るような音楽成分を飲み込んだような音浴空間。新津章夫を思わせる迷宮仕立ての2分から3分の曲で構成された全14曲の極上の内容。これは凄い。まだまだ一端に過ぎないと思われる、こんな無名のアーティストが眠る米自主制作ワールドおそるべし。現在はギャラリーを運営しながら創作活動を続けているご様子。
