Dominique Lawalrée is a Belgian composer who has been reevaluated in recent years. This work is his 1982 release, the 11th on his private label, Editions Walrus. Side A begins with the wistfully wandering minimal piece “Rainy Sunday : Dimanche Pluvieux,” followed by the over 14-minute epic “Le Secret Blanc,” where the shimmering piano sound draws you into a utopian realm. Side B features "La Maison Des 5 Éléments," an immersive track with a relentlessly lapping piano melody lightly laced with synths, and experimental feeling “Millénaire” interweaving whispers and water sounds. The evocative artwork also adds to the atmosphere. There's a scratch at the beginning of long A2 track that pops 5 or 6 times, it's not in the middle of the track, so you can still get a feel for the music by skipping that part, but please be aware. Of course, this is reflected in the price.
